From Australia to Thailand - How I Ended Up on the Water

I'm Thai/Australian, and I moved from Australia to Thailand in 2023. The pull was always there - family ties, the food, the weather, and a cost of living that actually lets you breathe. What I didn't expect was to fall completely in love with cable wakeboarding.

It started at Taco Lake in Bang Na. I'd never stood on a wakeboard in my life. The staff there were incredible - patient, encouraging, and genuinely stoked every time I made it a few metres further without eating water. That first session turned into a second. Then a weekly habit. Then an obsession.

The community at Taco Lake is something special. It's not just a park - it's a crew. Regulars who remember your name, staff who celebrate your progress, and a vibe that makes you want to come back every single week. That community is what hooked me on the Thai wake scene, and it's the reason this site exists.

Why I Built Wakeparks Thailand

When I started riding, I couldn't find a single reliable source that covered all of Thailand's cable parks in one place. Pricing was scattered across Facebook posts. Directions were buried in Thai-language Google reviews. Some parks had zero online presence. I'd show up to places that had changed their hours, moved their obstacles, or in one case, permanently closed.

So I built the resource I wished I'd had. Wakeparks Thailand is a directory of every cable wake park in the country - 14 parks across 6 regions - with real information, accurate pricing, and directions that actually work.

The Bigger Picture

Outside of wakeboarding, I run GetNifty - a digital advertising agency serving clients globally, specialising in SEO, Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), branding, and AI video production. Our clients include one of the world's leading AI video studios.

Wakeparks Thailand is one of my own projects - built with the same strategies I use with clients. Topical authority, genuinely useful content, and being visible where people are already looking for what you provide. I track every metric publicly - you can follow the site's SEO journey on the SEO progress page.

What's Next

I'd love to have my own little oasis one day. A 2-tower cable system, a recreational bar area to hang out between sets, a spot where you can train Muay Thai and BJJ, and an ice bath and sauna area to recover after a full day on the water. Somewhere friends can come and hang, and my little one can grow up getting into it young. That's the dream - just an idea for now, but it's where my head's at.

From experience, marketing is the first thing that suffers once you're deep in the day-to-day of running a business. The best time to build a digital presence is before you're drowning in operations - and that's exactly what I'm doing here. When the oasis exists, whether it's in the middle of nowhere or on the outskirts of a city, people will already be able to find it. Every article, every park review, every piece of content is a step toward that.

I'm still early in my own journey with wakeboarding, but that's exactly why I built this site - I know what it's like trying to find good information when you're starting out. Whether you're a rider picking it up for the first time, a park owner who wants to reach more people, or someone with a wild idea for a new venture around the sport - reach out, I'd love to connect.
